May 6, 2011

We’re celebrating spring at tomorrow evening’s (May 7) Soulful Sundown worship service at the Unitarian Universalists of Fallston.

Some of the readings we’ve collected for this service come from the recently-completed “Understanding the Bible” adult education class. We’ve also got some lovely poetry and several decades of rock-n-roll music. We’re calling this service “And the Light Was Good.” We’ll also talk about the value of darkness.

As usual, we’ll have a participatory art project near the end of the service. Given the “light” theme, it seemed about time to dedicate a chalice specifically for our use at Soulful Sundown. (The chalice is the symbol of the Unitarian Universalist faith. Chalices come in many forms, almost no two are exactly alike.) I’ve made some tiny samples as practice for tomorrow. Here they are, together with the large terra cotta pots we’ll use to make our cooperative chalice tomorrow. We’ll also decorate stones to put in and around our chalice.

The service starts at 6:00PM. All are welcome. Hope to see you there!
